As many are heading back into the office for work, More and more offices are changing their work attire requirements. This can be a shock to many people and it can be a struggle to find the right workwear.
Many professionals who wore suits into work prior to COVID now have to change their work attire to a slightly more casual look which can be quite daunting as it can be confusing to know where the line of smart casual and casual cross. Although you are suiting to a more casual look it is still important to look smart, clean and professional.
Many people have come into the StylishGuy over the past couple of months not sure what they should be wearing, how they should be wearing something or what they should be stirring away from and what they should be leaning towards. Well Shane has the answer for you.
Shane has given some great advice on how to tackle this and here are some of his tips for building a capsule wardrobe for your work attire ->
For the bottoms:
1) Get yourself a good pair of chinos.
Chinos that you can buy in multiple colours such as Beige, Navy and grey. By having chinos in different colours it looks like you are wearing different looks each day.
Our MISH MASH chinos are the perfect chino to wear as work attire as they are a lovely soft fabric, a great fit, and very comfortable with a good stretch.
If you are in these all day long, in and out of your office chair, they are going to be comfortable.
On top:
2) Simple clean shirts.
Keep it very simple and very clean and get yourself some shirts. Blue for example.
More colours are suitable but for the beginnings of a work wear wardrobe you cannot go wrong with classic colours such as blue and navy. These colours are a great staple and safe choice that look smart in a professional environment.
If you got four different shades of blue shirts you can begin to mix and match with all three beige, navy and grey chinos. It is a great way to begin your new working wardrobe instead of investing in loads of different pieces and not being able to put one outfit together.
To complete the look:
3) Purchase a nice jacket or Half Zip.
By finishing off your outfit with a jacket or if that's not your style a half zip jumper will help to elevate the more casual work attire and keep it smart and work appropriate.
"Remember Do not fix what is not broken and do not try to reinvent the wheel. If you like a specific colour and it works for you then keep that colour and work around it".
Shane also recommends shopping for an extra item of clothing to add to your working wardrobe every 6 to 8 weeks and that way you will continue to grow your work attire by keeping it plain and keeping it simple, and still being able to mix and match. In time you can always introduce more colour, fabrics and designs.
If you are one of those people who are going back to the office or have gone back already, and unsure about fashion or what to wear or what's going to work best for you and your work attire drop in and see up we would love to help you and love to support you.
We would love to help you 'Dress Well, Look Good and Feel Great'

We’re not going to bore you with the basics, but, do remember... Everyone you meet has something to teach you. Be clever enough to listen and wise enough to learn.
Firstly, dressing well is a way of life. It will make you feel confident and it will have a positive impact on your life. Don’t deprive yourself of that “feel-good factor” during your working week.
Don’t worry about what others are wearing, this is about YOU. Your style, your image and your comfort. If you dislike wearing suits, do not wear them. It’s that SIMPLE.
Good fashion and good style is all about buying good investment pieces. Good quality, easy to match up and durable.
If you want to make it easy for yourself, build a working wardrobe where everything matches. Keep it plain and simple and go bold on the weekend. Good quality chinos, a soft cotton shirt and a merino wool jumper is a go-to smart look.
If you’re stuck on style, or just need a second opinion drop and have a chat with any of the StylishGuy Team. We’ll make what you take home is perfectly suited to you.
It’s something we all say we do, but rarely actually implement. Having a plan is necessary for a successful day. Take time at the beginning of the day or the night before and decide what you want to achieve.
Spend your energy like you spend your money - WISELY.
No matter how big or small, make a list - it will help navigate your day. Ticking the list off gives you completion. Completion gives you progress, progress gives you completion. Combined together you have SUCCESS.
When you’re asked to do a task or a step into a role that you feel will challenge you, do you feel uncomfortable?
Identify why you feel this way - and ask yourself will this new endeavour benefit my growth? 9/10 it will.
Say yes and figure out the logistics later.
Be mindful of your behaviour and your actions throughout the day. The only thing you can control is how you act and react to others. It’s easy to get sucked into different scenarios that will drain your energy. Conserve your energy for what really matters.
To avoid burning out - if you can, stop and take 5 or 10 minutes and register with being in the present moment. Re-read your plan for the day and get back into it.
What’s important to you? Are you fulfilling your personal values throughout your working day?
For example, if you value your wellbeing make sure you’re looking after yourself throughout the day - do whatever makes you happy. This is empowerment in itself. Whatever you value, figure out the areas where you can honour these values.
]]>Remember, what you put in you will ALWAYS get back - physically, mentally, emotionally. BE BRAVE …. STEP by STEP.
Everybody you meet has something to teach you.
This week The Stylish Guy can teach you the best wardrobe advice.
Dressing well is a way of life - let your wardrobe reflect that.
Your clothes are meant to fit you and your lifestyle. If something doesn't fit GET RID OF IT.
It's taking up valuable space and the constant reminder it doesn't fit is affecting you negatively.
Build a wardrobe where everything makes you feel comfortable, confident, and stylish.
Keep your wardrobe fresh and concise.
Choose quality items that will last.
Simple style is the way forward.
If you can't see it you won't wear it.
Have a place for everything. Fold carefully and use thin non-slip hangers.
This will also save you money buying doubles you already have.
Keeping your best items up for good use?
Why would you rarely wear an item that makes you feel your best?
Wear your best clothes all the time.
Look good all the time. FEEL GREAT all the time.
Dress Well, Look Good, Feel Great
Here at StylishGuy our mantra is to dress well, look good and FEEL GREAT. Lockdown 3 has been challenging - most of us have struggled with feeling great. Yet, with the change in weather, brighter evenings, clear mornings we can’t help but feel hopeful. It seems like the last hurdle and we’re thinking positive. We reached out for inspiration, to a good friend of StylishGuy Menswear and local GAA hero Eamon Fennell, to find out how he’s keeping a positive mental attitude in these challenging times.
Living Life in the Moment
I’m taking it one day at a time! Not wasting time worrying too far ahead and only focusing on what's right in front of me. I’m making sure the people around me are doing well by regularly checking in on them and setting time aside to call them.
My training has changed. I have a 12-week program that is keeping me on track. I also put my phone away when training, so I can give myself the headspace to focus on the exercises.
Being Grateful and Acknowledging Small Goals
One of the big changes I've made during lockdown is journaling. There are some positives and opportunities to take from these difficult times.
I've found writing down how my day went, what I am grateful for, what did I do for my family, recording my training, the impact I made in work and what my game plan is for tomorrow, have really helped me stay on track for what I want to achieve.
My wife and I spent one evening looking at pics we took over the past year and we've made some amazing memories with our daughter. It’s great to have these memories but it’s also important to spend some time appreciating them - this is where journaling has really helped me.
A New Kind of Training
I struggled at the start with my training, as I am used to training with teams.
The best change I made was to my training, was to try something new. I started training for an Ironman back in July of last year and it has given me a renewed energy.
The end is near, brighter days are ahead. If mental health is something you're seriously struggling with please contact a GP or get in touch with one of the many support services around Ireland who are there to listen when you need to talk. You can click HERE to find a list of supports available to you.
A big thank you to Eamon from StylishGuy Menswear. You can keep up with him on instagram @eamofennell.

Here at StylishGuy Menswear we believe that taking care of your wardrobe should be just as important as stocking it with the right clothes. We want to share our top tips to ensure your clothes last forever.
Over-washing your clothes will make them look faded and worn. Save yourself the hassle. As a rule of thumb, if it looks clean and smells clean, it’s probably clean.
It's not rocket science, when you buy new suede shoes we believe it's necessary to invest in a protector and spray them. This will benefit you in the long run.
GANT Suede Elephant Brown Trainers. Check them out HERE.
Most t-shirts are best suited to be folded, whether long sleeve or short sleeve along with most jumpers. Shirts are best hung up in the wardrobe, together with suits and making sure they are spaced out.
ALWAYS double check your pockets. You will surprise yourself with the amount of stuff you leave in them. The last thing you want is a little tissue destroying your laundry.
As tempting as it is to just throw all your laundry into the machine and boom - please don't do it. Divide your colours and wash them separately, or at least pick up a box of Colour Catchers. We recommend washes no higher than 40 degrees.
Unless the shirt you’ve just washed is the only one you own (if so, you can pick up some more shirts here) there is no good reason for drying your clothes in a dryer. Although the easy option, a dryer will shrink your clothes and make them fade. The alternative of using a clothes horse or a washing line will allow your clothes to look brand new for longer.
Lastly is our most simple tip to preserve the life of your clothes. Turning your clothes inside out when washing. The outside of the clothes won't receive the abuse from the washing machine and they will still be equally as clean.
We hope you enjoyed our top tips and will go on to live a long happy life with your wardrobe.

Our customers often ask us the difference between merino wool and regular wool. We want to clear it up once and for all and let everyone know the special benefits of merino wool.
]]>Our customers constantly ask us the difference between merino wool and regular wool. We want to clear it up once and for all and let everyone know the special benefits of merino wool.
This guy is part of the merino sheep breed, living in Australia or New Zealand, they have the softest wool of any sheep. Their wool is super fine and super thin and garments made from it do not itch.
The fabric is extremely breathable, meaning it's amazing at removing moisture from the microclimate ( space between the skin and the garment ). The fibres can absorb and retain up to 30% of their own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch.
Typically we know the benefits of wool for winter - the merino wool has a natural crimp to it that helps it trap more dead air than any other fibre. Dead air is a wonderful insulator providing a great defence against the cold.
During the other seasons when your body warms up the moisture stored within the fibre will begin to evaporate, cooling the air between your skin and the fabric. The warmer you get the more evaporation takes place and the bigger the cooling effect. Because of its self-management of moisture, usual odour-causing bacteria cannot thrive.

A brief history on the polo shirt shows the shirt sported by polo players in the 19th century as the collars were buttoned down to prevent them from flapping in the wind.
With its breathable fabric and effortless distinctive collar, the polo shirt is perfect for any occasion.
The polo shirt can be put together with jeans, chinos and even suit pants.
For a casual look - trainers and jeans is a foolproof combination.
On the dressier side consider tucking the polo into your pants and teaming it with a blazer and loafers.
When purchasing the perfect polo ensure the buttons don’t sit too far down your chest, otherwise it can look like a V neck.
Keeping the top buttons closed provides an instantly polished demeanour.
Don’t be afraid to try out a bold colour, especially in the Summer months - it’s a straightforward way to experiment with your style.

If in serious doubt, do not chance your luck. There's no shame in turning to the dry cleaners when you need them. For a number of garments, it is simply the most convenient option. For example, washing and drying a wool suit at home without damaging it would be an extremely painstaking process.
Filling only half will guarantee the items will get a better wash.
Bonus tip: Clothes that have only been worn once should only be lightly rinsed. Overwashing clothes makes them look faded and worn.
Using fabric softener takes the stiffness out of clothes which will ensure for a better, more comfortable fit.
Drying clothes in the dryer provides a high risk of them shrinking. Drying clothes indoors without fresh air can also shrink clothes and dry them out.
If an item shrinks by accident - while it’s still wet dip it in cold water and hang it out to dry on the clothesline. The weight of the water might stretch it back out again.

Keeping white shirts white with underarms clean and stain-free is the topic at hand this week - Many men suffer from dingy yellow armpit stains that may lead them to feel self-conscious or embarrassed.
Conflicting to what you make think, experts have revealed that sweat itself is not the main felon cultivating the stains. Most likely the stains you see have derived from a combination of the aluminium in the antiperspirant and sweat. The good news is that this staining can be prevented with some minor tweaks to your routine.
We hope this blog was helpful to those who endure this dilemma. If there are any topics you would like to see discussed on the StylishGuy Weekly, get in contact with us info@thestylishguy.ie

To elevate your classic jeans and shirt look, we advise starting by sticking to one pattern per outfit. Let the print become centre stage by combining it with plain or neutral colours of denim or a chino. This is the most fool-proof method for those who are apprehensive.
The patterned shirt can be easily incorporated into the office, paired with a plain blazer, or for those more daring, subtle patterns can be mixed together.
If you want to make the transition from well-presented to MEMORABLE pick up a patterned shirt here. Always remember, what's the point in fashion if you can't have a little fun?
